Claims and service

Claims and Service Resources

For an urgent loss, follow your insurer’s claim-reporting instructions and prioritize safety. This page provides general preparation guidance, not claim handling advice.

When a loss happens

Seek emergency help when needed, take reasonable steps to prevent further damage if it is safe to do so, and document what you can. Report the loss through the insurer’s listed claim channel and keep the claim number, representative details, photos, receipts, and correspondence together.

For policy service

For ID cards, billing, endorsements, certificates, or policy documents, use the insurer’s service channel or contact the agency. Have your policy number and the requested change ready. Do not rely on a submitted website form as confirmation that a coverage change has been made.

California consumer help

The California Department of Insurance publishes guides on auto and residential insurance, claims, and consumer assistance. If you have a dispute or question about an insurer, consult the Department’s current resources and complaint process.
