Business insurance

Business Insurance

A business policy should reflect what the business actually does, where it operates, who it employs, and the contracts it signs. A conversation starts with the operations, not a package label.

Map the business activity

Describe the services, locations, equipment, inventory, vehicles, revenue, payroll, subcontractors, and customer contracts. Seemingly small details can affect whether a policy is available and what its terms address.

Common coverage conversations

General liability, commercial property, business income, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability, cyber liability, and employment practices coverage each address different risks and have distinct terms. An insurer may offer some of these separately or in a package.

Review contracts and certificates carefully

A certificate of insurance is evidence of insurance; it does not change the policy. Send contract insurance requirements early enough to compare them with the policy and any required endorsements.
